The Light of St. Bernardine: Ron Rezek

Although we don’t usually think about it, lighting plays an important role in making St. Bernardine the safe and welcoming place it is. The man responsible for the design and installation of much of the hospital campus’ lighting, Ron Rezek, was recently honored for his efforts by the city of San Bernardino. Rezek, lighting expert and Foundation Board of Trustees Vice-Chair, received the city’s Beautification Award for the “Maintenance of Structure and Landscape” for the St. Bernardine Convent, and also the St. Bernardine Catholic Church.

All board members of the Foundation expressed their gratitude for Rezek’s hard work and dedication.

It should also be noted that Rezek’s work has all been donated to St. Bernardine. It includes complete lighting fixtures and light poles for the Valencia lot, the Emergency parking lot, the parking structure, the emergency canopy, lighting at the front entrance to the hospital, the exterior of the Convent, the front entrance of the 1931 building, the area around the Matich Center and at the entrances to the hospital.

We send our deepest thanks to Mr. Rezek.

Spotlight on Dana and Delia Weaver

The Weaver Health and Fitness Center at St. Bernardine Medical Center was named aptly in honor of the generous healthy spirit of Dana and his late wife Delia Weaver.

After moving West from Maine in the early 1960s, the Weavers immediately connected with their local Catholic hospital, St. Bernardine Medical Center. Active in community volunteerism, Delia joined the St. Bernardine Auxiliary where she was member for 45 years. Dana, who became a partner in the local insurance firm Morgan and Franz, offered his financial and business insight to the Foundation, eventually becoming a member of its Board of Trustees. During his tenure on the board, Dana started the CEC, Corporate Executive Council, a high-powered coalition of local business owners all dedicated to the mission of the hospital and foundation. Dana has also been a long-time member and Past President of the Rotary.

Together they raised a family with the birth of their only child, a beautiful daughter named Sandra. Today, the Weavers have grown with the addition of two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A strong supporter of the Sisters and a believer in the healing ministry of the hospital, Dana and Delia were among one of the foundation’s first planned giving donors and Dana remains an advocate for estate gifts. He is currently Chair of the Board’s Estate and Planned Giving Committee.

In light of their unwavering generosity, there is no surprise why the cardiac rehabilitation center was renamed the Weaver Health and Fitness Center.
